Blitz chess in Paris 8

Blitz, with a few minutes each on the clock, is played in Paris mostly in cafés and bars, by clubs that have made a tradition of it. Canal Saint-Martin Echecs runs its Friday blitz tournaments, the Grand Malabar series among them, at the Café Les 2 Parisiens on the Faubourg Saint-Martin, alongside the Rapide FIDE du Canal series. Inter Chess, the club behind the Interchess series, holds numbered blitz events next to its rapids at the Salon Boba Fruits in the 15th.

The Blitz Society bar on rue du Sabot in the 6th and the bar L'Échiquier on rue Saint-Maur in the 11th have both held blitz tournaments rated by FIDE. Most of these events count for the international blitz rating; the entry of each one gives the newest dated edition.
