About this list
A Paris chess club is almost always an association affiliated to the Fédération Française des Échecs, and its register page gives a hall and a weekly timetable. Few clubs own a room. They meet in primary schools, like Échiquier du XIII in the Damesme school, in sports grounds such as the Charléty stadium used by PUC Echecs, in the railway works council by the Gare de l'Est, in neighbourhood centres and in maisons des associations. Some are workplace sections: railway staff, the Banque de France, the lawyers of the Paris bar.
Beyond the périphérique the list follows the clubs into Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne, where a town club often meets in a municipal building: the MJC Espace Icare in Issy-les-Moulineaux, the Jean Lurçat centre in Montreuil, the médiathèques of La Courneuve, the Jules Ferry leisure centre in Thiais. Clubs are grouped by commune, Paris first.
